Still Dare To Sit At Your Desk All The Time?

by Tango

Sitting is bad for your healthDo not let this wonderful smile on the photo deceive you! Do you know that sitting at your desk all the time is as “good” for your health as smoking? Just ask your doctor, they should be well aware of this “clear and present” danger affecting everyone with a desk job in the office and no regular athletic activities.

But no worries, there is a solution to this problem! In fact, there several different solutions. The most obvious would be to remember to get up every now and then and walk around for a bit, stretch, maybe do some hip mobility exercises, like the ones shown in this video. It is not much fun (if any), yet should help to counteract the negative effects continuous sitting has on circulation in our legs.

Another solution would be to get a stand up desk and do your work while standing up. “What fun!” – you would say, and rightfully so. But, fun or not, it is still better than sitting.

Yet, there is another solution, which is both, beneficial And fun at the same time. Yes, you guessed right, I am talking about dancing! No, it is not a joke at all. I do not suggest for you to do it right in your office, where you might be misunderstood :)

But think of it – if we work at our desk (sit) all day long to make a living, and it is hurting our health – is it really worth it to be making money in the first place and then spending a lot of it on doctor’s visits so we can…sit a little longer to keep making more money? Isn’t it somewhat like a Sisyphus Labor? Doesn’t it put us in a proverbial squirrel wheel?

Don’t get me wrong, I do not advocate working less or making less money. But I am all for having a good and wholesome fun in your lives. Once you start your dance classes and get through the initial period of feeling like a total beginner, it’ll be a lot of fun. You just have to find the class (and the instructor) that will shorten that initial period of learning the ropes to a minimum, so the fun can start sooner rather than later.

One possibility would be to take a close look into the method I have developed to teach folks how to dance in the shortest time possible, and in such a way that makes perfect sense to them. Many complete beginner couples in Atlanta went through this training and learned to dance in just 6 hours or so. It is like going from 0 to 60 in 6 seconds (which is pretty darn good!). You can check out the testimonials from some of those Atlanta couples (more to be posted soon).
