A Surprising Show From a Ballet Dancer

by Tango

I have to admit I am not much of a ballet fan. I like partner dances and consider Argentine Tango “the mother of all dances”. So when I recently came across a link to a video with Michail Baryshnikov, I wasn’t too excited. I clicked on it just to pay respect to this famous dancer and my compatriot, thinking of closing it in a few seconds…

But it did not happen. I watched this short video till the very end. And then watched it again. And again. It just proves that someone with a great talent can shine in more styles than one, even while chewing gum :)

Yet, the best part of this understated performance is not Michail in my opinion, but his partner Elaine Kudo. After watching her there we now know why they say that Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astair did, only backwards and in high heels.

Enjoy the video. By the way, Frank Sinatra song is wonderful too!

(love the part at 1m 07s – very Tango-esque)

While I cannot promise you all will dance like Michail and Elaine when you join our Tango Atlanta classes, I can say that you will enjoy the music, the community of dancers, and have fun along the way.

Now is a good time to register for the next 8-week Beginner Tango Course starting March 7.
