Atlanta Tango Art by David Wendel

On this Tango Bohemia page I’d like to introduce to you a talented professional Atlanta artist, David Wendel. His artistic journey stated over 30 years ago and “has been one of a hyper realist discipline to one of painterly impressionist. Artistic influences have been many and varied, from photo-realists Richard Estes and Ralph Goings to my favorite artists, Claude Monet and Vincent van Gogh.”

Argentine Tango in a new art series “Shall We Dance”

David recently started a new series called “Shall We Dance” featuring Tango as one of its main themes. The artist says it best of his passion and a recent interest in Argentine Tango:

“My life has been one of creating visually what my mind has experienced. With over thirty years in the creative field, the synergy of style, time and space have merged together as one professionally.

This most recent passion involves the drama of dance. Emotive dips and swings tempered with soft embrace embodies the movement defined with the palette knife in these pieces. As in the dance, the execution is one of bold, broad strokes, peppered with hints of color. The feeling of passionate movement is achieved from this balance of graphic relationships.”

* If interested in acquiring any of the paintings, send me an email and I will put  you in contact with the artist.

David Wendel says that as an artist the nature of light fascinates him, with reflected light being especially interesting to work with. His journey encompasses a hyper-realist pursuit to one of a painterly, sculpture like application of various paint media. The depth of the paint forms its own world of suggested shadows and form.
